New Echo devices 2026: Amazon launches Echo Show 16, Echo Time and an Alexa Photo Frame
Amazon announced five new Alexa devices on Wednesday, October 28: a redesigned Echo Show 16, an Echo Time smart alarm clock, the Alexa Photo Frame, a new Echo Dot and an Echo Studio with a built-in camera. Four of them are on sale now, and all ship with the latest version of Alexa, though some features need Alexa+, which Amazon includes with Prime.
Echo Show 16: a bigger, thinner screen
The Echo Show 16 has a 16-inch full HD screen that Amazon says offers 10 percent more viewing area than the Echo Show 15, in a frame that's nearly 40 percent thinner. A Nanomatte version uses an etched anti-glare glass that Amazon says cuts glare by more than 90 percent.
It gets a 13MP wide-angle camera with auto-framing and, for the first time on an Echo Show, night vision for checking in through Live View in the Alexa app. Fire TV is built in, with a remote in the box. New Screen Styles turn the home screen into a family organizer, a smart home dashboard or a photo frame, and the dashboard can show the new Alexa Home Map, a 3D view of a home's connected devices.
Pre-orders opened Wednesday, and Amazon says it will ship later this year. The standard model costs $499.99 and the Nanomatte model $569.99. Amazon is taking $100 off for pre-orders. A stand costs $69.99, or $124.99 for a swivel-and-tilt version.
Echo Time and Alexa Photo Frame
Echo Time is a bedside clock with a 3.2-inch round touchscreen, hundreds of clock faces and no camera. Its optional smart alarm uses Amazon's Omnisense sensors, including ultrasound that detects breathing, to wake you during lighter sleep within 10 to 60 minutes of the alarm you set. Amazon says it needs no wearable and that sleep sensing is opt-in. It costs $199.99 and is available now. A Kids version starts at $209.99 with a year of Amazon Kids+.
The Alexa Photo Frame has a 10-inch anti-glare touchscreen and syncs with Amazon Photos, so new pictures of the people you pick appear as you take them. Amazon says Alexa+ chooses which shots to show and skips screenshots and receipts. It costs $199.99 in black and $229 in birch or walnut, and comes with 90 days of Alexa+.
Echo Dot and Echo Studio with Home Camera
The new Echo Dot adds a built-in smart home hub with Zigbee, Matter and Thread support, and an eero Wi-Fi extender that adds up to 1,000 square feet of coverage to an existing eero network. It runs on Amazon's AZ3 chip, adds a fourth microphone and, Amazon says, has 50 percent more bass than the last model. It ships now for $99.99, and the Kids version starts at $109.99.
Echo Studio with Home Camera costs $249.99 and ships now. The camera lets you check the room from the Alexa app and lets Alexa+ recognize objects you hold up, such as a board game box. A button turns off the microphones and camera, and the camera-free Echo Studio stays on sale for $219.99.
What it means for you
The Echo Dot changes the most for the money: at $99.99 it now doubles as a smart home hub, so many lights, locks and thermostats can connect without a separate hub. Anyone with a camera-shy household has a choice, since Echo Time and the standard Echo Studio have no camera. The Echo Show 16 ships later this year, but pre-orders get $100 off. Some features need Alexa+, which Amazon includes with Prime, so check which ones you'd use before you buy.
